AbleDISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES

Our team

Eight people, and they wrote these themselves.

Most provider websites show you stock photography and a list of values. This is everyone at Able, in their own words, so you know who is actually going to knock on the door.

Started as a support worker, and still one at heart.

I started on the front line as a support worker, walking alongside people as they worked toward more independence. I fell in love with the work, and the joy I found in helping others has been a constant ever since.

I founded Able to build a team that shares my passion for listening, inspiring and advocating for our vulnerable friends and families. What began on my own has grown into a small team who all have the same big hearts.

I keep going until the right outcome is achieved. At my core I'm a listener. When I'm not working you'll find me with my family, lost in a good book, or at Pilates. My weaknesses are puppy dogs and a good ice cream.

Thirty years in the industry, and still the first to say yes.

I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live their best life, whatever their disability. I love motivating and encouraging people, helping them build confidence and make the most of every day.

With 30 years in the industry I understand how much it matters to feel comfortable when you welcome someone into your home. Building trust is something I value greatly.

Outside work I enjoy painting and decorating, and time with my three children and two grandchildren.

Ten years in public health, a psychology degree, and a lot of listening.

I've been a support coordinator and psychosocial recovery coach since 2022, and before that I worked in public health for ten years. I have a degree in psychology.

I'm person-centred and I advocate whole heartedly for everyone I support. I'm holistic in my approach and I adapt to what people actually need.

I'm a great listener and I love really understanding the people I work with. Outside work you'll find me with my family, eating good food, and enjoying music and sunshine.

Six and a half years of support work, and a dog she'll happily walk for you.

I'm a widowed mother of two young adults, two beautiful dogs and a cat who rules our household.

Having supported family members and clients through a range of physical and mental health issues, I feel a lot of empathy and care for the people we support. Being useful to them is what I strive for.

I adore animals and I'm very willing to help with any pet care. I love meeting new people and finding out what makes them tick. I truly believe we're here to help each other through, and that's why support work is a perfect fit for me.

Calm, warm, and a die-hard Demons supporter.

I firmly believe life is best navigated with a good sense of humour, genuine warmth and a grounded presence.

I bring a calm, compassionate energy to every day. I'm naturally adaptive to almost any structure or routine you prefer, so support fits into your day rather than interrupting it. When life gets chaotic my shoulders are strong and I'm happy to take the reins so you can take a breath.

I'm a lover of music, a fan of the theatre, and a dedicated veggie gardener. Roller derby is my favourite pastime and I proudly watch my daughter carry on the flame.

A big heart for people, and a genuine passion for the work.

I love being able to make a positive difference in someone's day, whether that's through a chat, a laugh, or helping them achieve something they didn't think was possible.

I'm friendly and down to earth, and I enjoy building trusting relationships and creating a space where people feel heard and supported. I'm reliable, patient and easy to talk to.

Family means everything to me. I also love going for walks on the beach: it's where I unwind and reset. Being near the ocean makes me feel grounded and grateful.

Bilingual, creative, and persistent until a solution is found.

I'm completing a Bachelor's degree and I spend my spare time training in martial arts. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish.

I'm a creative who loves drawing and painting, and an avid traveller with plans to explore Europe.

I communicate clearly, I persist until a solution is found, and I get energy from learning people's stories. I take pride in making people's lives easier and brighter, and cheering them on through every challenge.

Disability, aged care and childcare, and a bird called Phoenix.

I genuinely enjoy helping people feel confident, included and supported to live life on their own terms. I've worked across disability, aged care and childcare, and as a nanny and an au pair in Europe, which taught me a lot about different people, personalities and ways of life.

I'm patient, reliable and understanding, and I take the time to listen and learn what matters to each person. I particularly enjoy community access: a coffee, the beach, a walk, some shopping, or exploring somewhere new together.

Outside work it's family, especially my nephews, being outdoors, and animals. Most of all my bird, Phoenix, who is a very important part of my life.

We take on support workers rarely and carefully, because the whole promise of a small team is that it stays the same team. If that’s how you want to work, get in touch.
