AbleDISABILITY SUPPORT SERVICES

Privacy

Your information, and what we do with it

Plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not really a privacy policy.

Who we are

Able Disability Support Services is a registered NDIS provider based in Eleebana NSW 2282. We support people across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, the Hunter, Port Stephens and the northern Central Coast.

What we collect

For participants: your name and contact details, your NDIS number and plan details, your goals, the supports you receive, health information relevant to your support, emergency contacts, and the notes our workers write about the support they provide.

For everyone else: whatever you choose to tell us when you get in touch. If you send us a message through this website, we collect your name and the contact details and message you give us.

We collect health information because we cannot support you safely without it. That is a special category under Australian privacy law and we treat it that way.

Why we collect it

To deliver your supports, roster the right workers, keep you and our staff safe, invoice the NDIA, your plan manager or you, and meet our obligations as a registered provider.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing without asking you first.

Photographs and stories

We will never publish a photograph of you, or your story, without asking you specifically and getting that in writing. Consent is for a particular use, you can change your mind, and saying no changes nothing about the support you receive.

Who we share it with

Only where we need to: your plan manager or the NDIA for invoicing, other providers and health professionals where you have agreed, and the software we use to run the business, which includes our rostering and support coordination systems.

We also share information where the law requires it, including reporting obligations to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

How we keep it safe

Records are held in access-controlled systems, our staff only see what they need for the people they support, and everyone is trained on confidentiality before they start.

Seeing your information, and correcting it

You can ask to see what we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Ring or email us and we will help you do it. There is no charge.

Complaints

Tell us first, and we would genuinely rather hear it early. If you are not happy with how we handle it, you can contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544, or the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner on 1300 363 992 for a privacy complaint.
